Euro 2024: When it starts, dates, teams, groups, where it is being held and venues

In less than a week Euro 2024 will kick off, with the opening match seeing hosts Germany take on Scotland.

Here’s a look at everything you need to know about the competition that is set to captivate soccer fans around the world.

When Euro 2024 kicks off

Europe’s top national team competition will be played between June 14 and July 14. A whole month of matches and excitement that will end with the crowning of the best of the 24 participating teams.

Groups and teams participating in Euro 2024

These are the countries and the groups they will play in at the 2024 European Championship.

  • Group A: Germany, Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland.
  • Group B: Spain, Croatia, Italy and Albania.
  • Group C: Slovenia, Denmark. Serbia and England
  • Group D: Poland, Netherlands, Austria and France
  • Group E: Belgium, Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine
  • Group F: Turkey, Georgia, Portugal and Czech Republic.

Where Euro 2024 will be played and venues

The host country is Germany, with several venues playing host to matches. The final will be in Berlin, but the opening match will be held at the Munich Football Arena.

There will be a total of 10 different venues that will bring the competition to life and give fans a look at German culture. The different venues are Berlin (Olympiastadion Berlin), Cologne (Cologne Stadium), Dortmund (BVB Stadion Dortmund), Dsseldorf (Dsseldorf Arena), Frankfurt (Frankfurt Arena), Gelsenkirchen (Arena AufSchalke), Hamburg (Volskparkstadion Hamburg), Leipzig (Leipzig Stadium), Munich (Allianz Arena) and Stuttgart (Stuttgart Arena).
